GARDEN GLITTERS
36” X 8”
About this
painting
This painting started first with my obsession to purchase
different sized canvases, and there it sat.
Come June foxgloves are in full bloom, and although I have a dozen
photos, I believe to get to know your subject on a more personal level, you
need to sketch it. And I figured
I’d better get my sketch in before the foxgloves were gone for
the season. As I was balancing my very tall,
freshly cut foxglove
into a vase
…..there it was. My
very oddly shaped canvas was perfect for my idea. I pushed another painting aside to
complete this one as both foxgloves and hummingbirds aren’t around for
long. The hummingbirds in this
painting
are known as the Rufous Hummingbird
– they are both female.

Interference paint
was used
so that the birds
glitter in the light
